Top 5 things to bring on a long haul flight

Buckle up, bundle up, you’re in for a long ride across the pond – or to wherever you are going.  If you are unsure of what to put in your carryon, here are my essentials for long haul flights:

  1. Ear plugs – want to go night night on a long flight?  Ear plugs muffle the sound of your neighbors, and the loud background noise in any plane.  While you are at it, put an eye mask on to avoid eye contact with your neighbor.
  2. Chapstick – Everyone knows that the air is super dry in an airplane, nothing makes me feel more comfy than popping in my ear plugs and lathering my lips in chapstick for a long ride.
  3. Neck pillow – definitely annoying to carry around, but completely worth it on a long flight. If you scored a window seat you can lean up against the window for a cozy nap to your final destination.
  4. Hoodie and socks – I don’t know about you but I find most airplanes to be FREEZING.  It’s like they blast the actual outside air temperature into the cabin.  I throw a hoodie on and cover my head and ears, put warm socks on and it all helps me sleep the whole way through.
  5. Bottle of water – back to dehydration.  I always carry a reusable water bottle with me when I travel, I just dump it out before security and fill it up before I board again.  All airlines serve water but if you wake up from a long slumber on a long flight you will be parched.  I love reaching for my bottle of water and not helplessly awaiting a cabin attendant to come by with a dixie cup of water.

Of course there are lots of other items that you might want to bring, but these are the items that make that long flight in a middle seat in economy bearable.

Bon Voyage!
